Each Friday, I would like to share a word of the week with you. Something that summarises what I’ve been up to, how I’ve felt and how life is generally going. I’d love if you’d share one in the comments. It can be so therapeutic to reflect on what’s been happening, good or bad!
This week I have chosen the word Realisation
After living in this house for over 18 months there are a number of things that I have tried and failed several times to clean. You know what I mean, the awkward brackets around windows and nooks and crannies around taps for example. I’ve been putting up with them and had just accepted they could never be cleaned. The I came across Mrs Hinch and had a small light bulb moment. Using a 15p toothbrush and a basic cleaner, my bathroom now looks spotless. Isn’t it crazy that we just accept things to be a certain way sometimes when a very small or simple change can make all the difference!
This has been a bit of a theme for me this week, with realisations happening over and over.
The same happened with my hair. I’ve got very fine hair and for years I have just accepted that it has no volume and will never look as voluminous as girls with lovely thick locks. Then I come across a video on Youtube of a tutorial on how to blow dry thin hair. It turns out drying my roots for just a couple of minutes with my head upside down fixes it. Instantly. Why have I never tried this before?!
I’ve definitely learnt a lesson this week. Stop believing that things are just the way they are. Allow and encourage change. If you have a sticking point, think about it for a while. What else could you try? This might sound a bit OTT but I actually feel like a weight has been lifted for me! Give it a try. What have you been putting up with that you might be able to improve with a very simple change?
So there it is, my word of the week and a summary of the past seven days.
