Word of the Week – Trial

Each Friday, I would like to share a word of the week with you. Something that summarises what I’ve been up to, how I’ve felt and how life is generally going. I’d love if you’d share one in the comments. It can be so therapeutic to reflect on what’s been happening, good or bad!

This week I have chosen the word Trial

So I realise that my word choice for the week could be taken the wrong way. I’d like to stress that I’m not talking about a court trial! In fact it’s something far far nicer, my wedding hair and make up trial. This morning my mum and I are doing a practice run to figure out our styles for the day.

It will also allow me to make sure we are happy with the hair stylist and make up artist. I can’t imagine anything worse than getting ready just before I’m due to walk down the aisle with two people I don’t get on with.

My veil is here and ready to go and I think I know what hairstyle I’m wanting to go for so that’s a start. I’ve also got some clip in extensions that we might use as my hair is very thin. My thinking is that the extensions would help to give it a lot more volume and look better in photos, but then I’m worried that they might feel weird in and I’ll be uncomfortable.

I suppose that’s the very point of a hair trial isn’t it, to make sure your happy. Fingers crossed the stylist is lovely and I don’t feel too intimidated to say no to styles I don’t like. If we can find a look that I’m really happy with today it will definitely put my mind at rest. With only five and a bit months left to go until the big day it will feel really good to start finalising things.

Have you been married and had a similar uncertainty? Do you have any advice?

  1. Hope that all went well with your hair and make-up trial today. I don’t remember doing a trial with mine although I had a definite idea about what I wanted and it was fairly simple. My hairdresser was someone that I had known for several years and it helped to have someone that I knew and was comfortable with. Hope that your stylist was lovely and that you felt comfortable with them. #WotW

    1. They were both so nice Louise, thank you! If I went to a particular hairdresser regularly I’m sure I would have gone with them, but I had to rely on word of mouth. Thankfully the recommendations paid off 🙂 #WotW

  2. Its such a big deal, I am a hairdresser and bridal and avant grade is my specialist area, I have had brides ring me on the day in tears ( Friends who’s wedding I am attending ) and I have had to go and sort their hair its so important to be honest with your stylish and and be confident before the day, a great stylist will listen to you and do an amazing job x

    1. Thankfully Sarah both girls were lovely and have worked together before too so I have every confidence in them now! There will only be three of us getting ready together so I know we’ll have plenty of time to fix any miss-haps that pop up! #WotW
