Each Friday, I would like to share a word of the week with you. Something that summarises what I’ve been up to, how I’ve felt and how life is generally going. I’d love if you’d share one in the comments. It can be so therapeutic to reflect on what’s been happening, good or bad!
This week I have chosen the word Cluttered
My mind has been cluttered. The house has been cluttered. My diary has been cluttered. Do you ever find that? Sometimes you’re faced with a group of days that just seem to disappear in a fog and you can’t make head nor tail of what’s been going on. I feel like I’ve not even been doing that much!
Ironically, one of the goals which I set for myself at the beginning of this month was to meditate daily. When I do practice meditation it really helps me to stay on top of my thoughts and my mental health. It calms me and helps me to manage each day. I’m definitely seeing the impact of skipping meditation now!
Of course, what happens when you’ve got a cluttered brain? The house just seems to descend into chaos as well. Ok, chaos may be an exaggeration. We’ve been ordering Christmas gifts, doing DIY and hosting friends. It adds up to enough Amazon boxes to build a small fort, screws and drills an shelves on the floor and lots of washing bed sheets. It’s really nothing to complain about. In the moment though, it just added to my frustration.
Things got so on top of me that I ended up abandoning a few things last week. My poor blog was forgotten about for starters! I also skipped half of the cleaning and ignored several more items on my to do list than I care to mention. Again, none of these really matter at the end of the day, but of course even just thinking about them has cluttered my brain.
Just writing this has been helpful. Like a spot of spring cleaning. The frustration is out of my head and into a post. Now I can move on with a little less weight on my shoulders. Thank you for reading, you’ve really helped me to feel better!
