Word of the Week – Simple

Each Friday, I would like to share a word of the week with you. Something that summarises what I’ve been up to, how I’ve felt and how life is generally going. I’d love if you’d share one in the comments. It can be so therapeutic to reflect on what’s been happening, good or bad!

This week I have chosen the word Simple

I was sitting wondering what to write about this week, as not too much has been happening. Then it occurred to me. The perfect word for this simple week, would be simple!

At home, things have been simple. I’ve been keeping up with daily chores. I did some baking to use up the old bananas in the fruit bowl. The washing basket was cleared. New flowers were added to the living room. There was nothing fancy about it. It really was a simple week. You know what? It made me really happy!

Work has been the same. Quiet due to this time of year, so I’ve just been sitting down each morning with a short to do list and working my way through it. No drama. No stress. Certainly no phone calls from clients demanding drawings yesterday please! Just me, my laptop and lots of cups of tea. (Is it excessive to change my tea to hot chocolate in December?).

Most importantly to me, my marriage has been simple. This might sound a bit strange to some. Isn’t a relationship supposed to be all fireworks and excitement? Personally, I don’t think so. To me, the joy comes from turning the TV and sitting enjoying a nice cup of tea together. Unbelievably simple, but so so nice. Would you agree?

It also means that this week’s post is quite short. I’m OK with it though. I’m off to make another cup of tea!

  1. Ahh! What a great word. I always struggle to come up with a word when I have a week where not much happens. A great idea to keep it simple.
It sounds like you have had a lovely week. x

  2. It does sound like you’ve had a really lovely week, and there is a lot of joy to be had in just enjoying simplicity. I think there is something quite special about those little moments together of just sitting watching TV and enjoying a cup of tea – excitement and fireworks are overrated at times! #WotW
